Prepare for an adventure of a lifetime! Escape the containment lab and find freedom while also eating and mutating to your heart's content in this exhilarating game of hope and tragedy! After months of being kept in the isolation pod, then being set loose by a mysterious benefactor. There isn't any time to look around. Your endocrine system compels you to go on a rampage, while your faster-than-light digestive system agrees with wholeguttedly.

This game is quite simple to grasp, kids! The escaped critter is controlled as follows: Hold the finger of your choice on the screen to make the lab abomination go up. Release your grip to make it go down, but be careful not to get bitten. The hapless thing might not have realized this while being contained that it needs a constant supply of fresh meat to stay alive. Fortunately, since it escaped with a bang, there's plenty of panic going around for it to chomp and munch on the disoriented lab crew.

The more people it eats, the longer it will stay alive. Not only that, but eating is good for on-the-spot-macro-evolution. After getting a full course, your little critter will evolve! When that happens, you will need to choose one of three random mutation bonuses. If it ever happens to get a duplicate, that choice will upgrade the existing bonus, making it much more effective, and life-enriching, because life is extremely short anyway. While on the subject of mutations, some of the more 'aggressive' ones will eviscerate your victims, turning them into pieces of meat, which are seemingly more nutritious than their original form.

Sometimes, very rarely, you'll also get to collect some quirky wearable items that will boost one of your stats permanently. Good luck on that. But besides the occasional thing and the abundance of meat-bags, you'll also find coins laying on the cold facility floor. Even though they're not going to help you in any way during the same incarnation, think it as an investment, and gobble them up as well. Eventually, you will have collected enough to purchase stat boosts of your choice between plays. I recommend investing in coin collecting first for obvious economic reasons.

Final Thoughts

Lab Escape has quirky graphics, a funny theme and a well-executed control scheme that lets you play for real even if you're one-handed. It's also mighty useful when commuting. Don't play while driving, though.
